The SYG iPhone app stores all core data onboard so no internet connection is necessary to retrieve most information. Only displaying the members location in Google Maps requires an internet connection.
The information provided is the members name and contact details, a location map and holiday information. Nothing upsets the smooth running of a yacht more than arriving in a new country and being confronted with an unexpected bank holiday with all offices and shops closed. (read more..)
Formation of a Superyacht Association in the Asia-Pacific region takes critical next step
A second meeting to discuss the formation of an Asia Pacific wide super yacht Association took place during the recent Singapore Boat Show on 16th April and was kindly hosted by The Republic of Singapore Yacht Club. Attracting 40 people from more than 16 countries, the outcome of the meeting gave unanimous support for the immediate formation of the Association.
In addition to the 40 attendees, a further 20 have registered their interest to become a member.(read more..)
19 April 2010 - Global superyacht service provider welcomes new members
SuperyachtGLOBAL (SYG) have revealed the addition of various companies, seeking to offer a comprehensive worldwide service network for the global superyacht fleet. Of these Oceana Limited has just recently joined the group. Based in Piraeus, Greece, it specialises in undertaking refits on many of the large yachts visiting the area. The decision to join SYG was made when the company expanded his scope of work from refit into the agency business. Working closely together with Kronos Yachting of Rhodes the companies will offer service throughout the Greek islands.

Superyacht industry professionals meeting inThailand
On 8th January this year over 25 superyacht industry professionals met during Thailand’s PIMEX boat show to discuss the possibility and need for the creation of a superyacht association for the Asia-Pacific Region.
While there are a number of existing country level superyacht associations (notably Australia, Singapore and Indonesia) there is no single body promoting the region as a whole.
Those attending the meeting (see attached photo) were hugely positive about the creation of an association and agreed in principle to begin work to create and launch the new body.
Knowledge among captains and yacht owners of this “third cruising destination” is very low and a major objective of the association would be to communicate the unique benefits of the region to superyachts based around the world. (read more..)

Yacht Solutions successfully complete the first Luxury motor yacht refit in
the heart of Bangkok, Thailand.
In late December last year the captain of a Motor Yacht contacted the Thailand
based marine management company Yacht Solutions asking for assistance as
their planned yard work in China had fallen through 10 days prior to haul out.
The captain asked if Yacht Solutions could offer any alternatives. During the festive
period a berth was arranged along side on the Chao Far River in Bangkok and a
yard arranged for the necessary refit work scheduled for the yacht. On the 21st
January the yacht entered the dock yard and by the 22nd work was underway to
complete a list of works originally scheduled for 4 months with only 10 weeks
